Travelling to Morocco? Need a consultation?

June 2013:

It seems I have neglected this page for a while. My gastronomic tours are fading from memory, though I do get a few requests each year to change my mind and lead another. I’m afraid that era is gone. Culinary tours to Morocco seem to pop up on every travel website. I am happy just recalling that I was the first, if not among the first, who had the idea to show off Morocco’s culinary riches to  intrepid travellers in 1983! Morocco remains a popular travel destination. Though I am NOT a travel agent, nor am I selling anyone’s services, I will be happy to consult with you.  Over the years, I have often been called upon  to provide an insider’s view into  Morocco, its culture and its cuisine. I will be happy to set up a consultation by phone, to discuss land arrangements or review an established itinerary. Please e-mail me at kitty@kittymorse.com. My fee is $100 an hour.

I will also e-mail you a copy of Come to the Kasbah! a handout I have personally compiled, that is filled with my list of historical landmarks, shops, and restaurants around Morocco.

PLEASE NOTE:

I AM NOT A TRAVEL AGENT, therefore I cannot provide any information on airfares, nor do I represent any hotels or restaurants in Morocco or elsewhere. The information I share is strictly my personal opinion!

IF YOU NEED assistance in making travel arrangements to Morocco, however, please contact Natalie Tuomi at San Diego Travel Group, at ntuomi@sdtg.com. Natalie handled airfare and hotel reservations for my tours for many years.

Morocco Travellers Comments:

“We returned Sunday evening from a whirlwind and fascinating trip to Morocco.  Thank you very much for sharing your tips with us.  They guided us well.  Monday morning I sat with my coffee and your cookbooks.  Every recipe that we hoped for was found!  The family will have a large Moroccan dinner with us in two weeks! . . . There was snow in Ifrane and rain in the Sahara.  The images in my mind will last forever.  Morocco is such a remarkable country.  How fortunate you are to have your life experiences in that part of the world! I am so pleased to be on your newsletter email list!”

    Hi Kitty,
I was sad to see that you are no longer doing your Morocco cooking tour! I am trying to find a recreational cooking school in Morocco or at least some sort of hands on cooking classes there. So far I have really only been able to find 3 to 5 day cooking vacations which don’t seem to be as hands on as I am looking for, nor as long as I am looking for. Do you have any recommendations?
    Thank you!

    HI Jennifer.

Thank you for visiting my site. Yes, I am taking a break from my tours after 23 years!
I really can’t recommend a school, but I know there are now a number of them around the country (though I must brag that I believe I was the first to offer culinary tours to Morocco way back when!) I would suggest you check the New York Times travel section, it seems their Paris based writer spends a great deal of time in Morocco. I think he did a piece on cooking schools a year or two ago.

    Good luck! Keep me posted.

    Dear Kitty,
I continue to think of you after meeting you in San Antonio.  How I wish I could have gone with you to Morocco on your tour and cooking class.
Perhaps you recall me sharing with you that for years I have been drawn to Morocco. My daughter and her husband have been transferred to Doha, Qatar.  We want to meet them in Morocco.  I'd like to set up a short time mid-morning this coming Friday, Oct 6th, to talk on the phone with you.  Please advise me if this is agreeable with you, your cost, and a phone number to call you. To make this confidential, my info to respond to my request is below.
I hope this finds you well.
    Kind regards, Elizabeth Wilhite

Kitty, please put me on your newsletter e-mail list, and  I would appreciate a copy of your "Come to the Kasbah."   I'd like to set up a time to talk with you on the phone, after you return to U.S.  Let me know please the cost for your consultation.
I hope you are having a wonderful time in Morocco.
    Kind regards,
    Elizabeth Wilhite
